Position: Sessional Detached Youth Worker

Part Time: Various

Salary Scale: £12 - 15 per hour (shift duration approx. 3-4hrs)

Accountable to: Senior Management

Job Purpose:

The Youth Action Project require to increase our bank of part time youth workers, to directly deliver our street work/detached youth work service for young people and the communities of West Lothian. The work will focus on the prevention and intervention services for young people at risk or requiring support to improve their current life circumstances. We also work in partnership with statutory and third sector partners, community groups and businesses to reduce Youth anti-social behaviour

Our current requirements are primarily for evening sessions.

Key Tasks:

To build positive relationships with young people to increase their confidence and resilience.
Effective liaison and communication with Education, Police Scotland, Fire and Rescue Service and other youth services both statutory and voluntary.
To work as part of a project team and to operate within the parameters of the project’s agreed policies and procedures.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
To ensure that sessions are recorded accurately.

Person Specification:

Experience/Competencies:

Essential:

A genuine commitment to supporting young people to improve their lives.
Relevant certification and or experience of working with young people in community settings.
Experience of youth work and broad knowledge of issues affecting young people.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a small team.
Experience of record keeping, monitoring and evaluation processes.
Proficiency in the use of IT.
To undertake any relevant training and professional development opportunities available.
Willing to work flexible hours.
Demonstrate commitment to equal opportunities.
Good organisational skills.

Required:

Post holder will be subject to satisfactory references and PVG Disclosure check.

Desirable

Trained or willingness to train in First aid, Health & safety
Hold clean current UK driving licence
